The “FERTILE” training in Greece started at the University of Western Attica!
The training will have five phases: one face-to-face session, two asynchronous activities, and two synchronous online sessions. Its primary scope is to empower educators to design interdisciplinary projects that combine Educational Robotics and Art, aiming to cultivate students’ Computational Thinking skills in a blended learning context.
42 teachers from all levels of education, originating from either ER or Arts disciplines, participated in the first face-to-face session held in the UniWA premises on Saturday, November 9th, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The first meeting included:
- Introduction to the “FERTILE” project.
- Acquaintance of trainees and trainers.
- Experiential recognition of the dynamics of interdisciplinarity synthesising Educational Robotics and Art.
- Introduction to the “FERTILE” community platform.
- Familiarity with Computational Thinking skills.
- Partner identification toward co-designing an interdisciplinary project.
- Disclosure of the asynchronous activities included in the 2nd phase of the “FERTILE” training.
The trainers were:
- Sissy Papanikolaou, Professor of Educational Technology, School of Pedagogical and Technological Education.
- Cleo Fanouraki, Professor in Theater Studies, National University of Athens.
- Maria Tzelepi, Adjacent lecturer in Educational Robotics, University of West Attica.
- Eleni Zalavra, PhD candidate in the research area of Learning Design, University of West Attica.
- Nafsika Pappa, PhD candidate in the research area of Computational Thinking, University of West Attica.
We thank all participants for their enthusiastic participation in exploring the “FERTILE” initiative for interdisciplinarity in Educational Robotics and Art towards cultivating Computational Thinking skills.
It was a promising start for a comprehensive training!
